riverside Netherlands pack 6

Sunny and windy day in May on the busy river Waal (150m wide). Sound of waves and shipping. The loose radar reflector on top of the steel pole on the breakwater is annoyingly audible.

About the picture
A tranquil, open landscape in which water, stone and air are in perfect balance. In the foreground are the stone breakwaters. Small tufts of grass grow between the cracks.
In front of the breakwater, the River Waal flows past in a wide channel. The surface of the water ripples slightly in the wind. The current is steady and calm, without large waves, but clearly present.

On the other side of the river is a low, green bank covered with trees and bushes. Above all this, the sky fills a large part of the image. The blue is clear, with scattered white clouds being propelled by the wind.

On the left is a metal pole with a radar reflector on top that is just out of sight.
At the tip of the breakwater is the microphone that records the sounds.

About the picture
The photograph shows the river, but now from very close up, with the microphone clearly in the centre. The microphone is pointed towards the water to capture the sound of the river and passing traffic.
Behind the microphone lies the river, where a large cargo ship, a four-barge pusher, is passing by at that moment. The ship moves from left to right across the image, low and long, with a dark hull that contrasts sharply with the light water and the sandy bank on the opposite side.
The sky is clear blue with scattered clouds.
